WINDS OF CHANGE

27.01.2012
Starbucks announced it will begin selling beer and wine at 25 of its sale places by the end of the year, in addition to the classic coffee.

While the initiative was being proved already for a couple of years in six shops in the West Coast of the U.S., the largest coffee chain in the world reported that the goal is to increase customer traffic throughout the day without them affecting their most loyal base.

The risk, however, is that the sale of alcohol may deter some families with children.

Starbucks, which totals 10,700 coffee shops in this country, will also dispatch fruit platters and snacks.

The company first tested the introduction of alcoholic beverages in a store in the host city of Seattle in 2010. Although it was not released the data on whether these types of beverages increased customer traffic, they assured that the change was very popular.

The sale of alcohol is part of the change of direction that this company started in 2008.
